MegaMount
The MegaMount, although limited
to the JetRanger and LongRanger platforms,
provides an unusual twist to a typical nose
mount. In
addition to tilt, this system allows the camera
to roll 360° at
will, which is good for manually countering
the helicopter bank or inducing roll for dutch
angles or special effects. Pan is locked off.
The Mega Mount is operated gearhead
style
via
wheels.
This
is
a bit cumbersome for aerial applications, but
has been done successfully. The operator is
limited to operating from the rear seat of
the helicopter and so much additional equipment
and counterweight is required that only the
operator will fit. There is room for a third
passenger to fly in the front left seat, but
this is solely
the
call
of the pilot.
