Nose
Mounts
Nose mounts allow filming
of the straight ahead pilot POV. Although most
are fixed position there are nose mounts that
allow a certain degree of tilting. However,
none provide panning capability. These mounts
mandate reloading on the ground. For a helicopter
nose mount this can be done relatively quickly.
Fixed wing aircraft can take much longer as
you have to take into account the time it takes
to get back to the airport, get established
in the traffic pattern, land, taxi, reload
and possibly refuel the aircraft. For this
reason most nose mounts utilize 1000' magazines
although 400' can be used.
